Laylo Wine

A premium boxed wine brand, designed to look beautiful in any setting and tell the story of the wine through an evocative pattern.

“…unlike most box wines, which are somewhat shameful sights you want to cover with a tea towel, this is actually an exceptionally pretty design…”

Laylo Wine is a new limited-availability boxed wine company. Laura Riches and Laura Rosenberger joined forces when they spotted a gap in the market for a new approach to the bag-in-box format for wine. The two originally met in 2016 when working for Naked Wines, and approached Ed Wright Creative to create the brand identity and packaging for launch.

Laylo is sourcing small, limited-availability parcels of premium wine and wrapping them up in boxes that consumers “will be proud to have on their counter top”. The plan with Laylo is to use a design-forward approach, with the aim of challenging the perceptions of boxed wine as “cheap plonk”.

The design for Lot #1, a Spanish Tempranillo, takes inspiration from the ornate tiles found in tapas bars across the country. Incorporated into the design are details that help tell the story of the wine, for example the angels representing the founders, and the cranes a symbol of the female winemakers. Future editions will continue the concept, referencing textures and patterns from the wine’s region.
